Little Andrew Story

Little Andrew is a smiling, social little angel with eyes as blue as a summer sky. His birth was without complications - but soon it became clear his path wouldn’t be simple. Doctors suspected hypotonia and cryptorchidism. By his first birthday, he had already been hospitalized three times at Thomayer Hospital.

An MRI revealed the diagnosis: hypoplasia of the corpus callosum (HCC). The nerve center that should connect the two halves of his brain is thinner than normal. Foreign test results confirmed this as the main cause of his severe hypotonia and delayed psychomotor development.

But there is hope. The brain’s white matter can mature and find new ways to connect the hemispheres. For that to happen, his brain and body need constant stimulation - every single day.

And here, Little Andrew’s mother shows incredible strength. Since he was five months old, she has exercised with him four times a day. Patiently. Persistently. Lovingly. Thanks to her, he makes progress - slow, but steady. At fifteen months, he still eats only blended food and can’t move forward on his own yet. But his laughter, curiosity, and determination show he refuses to give up.

We were honored to contribute 35,000 CZK for a special Stingray stroller from R82. For him and his family, it’s not just equipment - it’s a gateway to the world. Outings, walks, moments where Little Andrew can watch, explore, and be part of life happening around him.

Little Andrew and his mother remind us that heroism doesn’t always look like grand gestures. Sometimes it’s daily exercises, four times a day, fueled by faith that even the smallest steps can one day lead to miracles.
